I believe this is true a lot of the time, though not all the time. I know a number of people that talk down about mutual friends or coworkers or family members and the person's behavior without realizing that they share the same traits. We're often blind to what we do or we want to believe we're different. When we see things in others that we don't like about ourselves, it makes us uncomfortable so we put the others down and convince ourselves that we don't do those things...even though others can see that we do. It's a funny quirk of human nature.

Yes, yes, yes.
For example, I like to think that all religions worship the same God, but may think of him/her/it with different faces/avatars. If everyone realized this, there would be a LOT less war and religious persecution in the world, since there would be no one "right" religion or practice.
As long as your religion commands you to treat everyone well, and as you would like to be treated, it's OK in my book. Just make sure that EVERYONE is included, and there are not any "special rules" - like for women, LGBT people, divorced people, different castes, etc. Everyone means everyone.
Good question!

What's the point of this question? People don't always hate because of differences. Sometimes people hate others who are just like them *because* they are like them.
For instance, gangsters in Watts hate each other, but not because of the colors they choose to wear.
