Check the garbage disposal where the drian from the dishwasher enters it if yours is set up this way. look for clogs. Then remove the bottom panel of the washer under the door. usually held on by two or four screws. follow the drain line back from the sink drain and make sure there are no kinks. The dishwasher drain line should actually be strapped up to the highest point possible in the cabinet in at least one spot. this keeps the water from going back into your washer when it drains. If no dice yet, undo the screen in the bottom of the washer. again usually held on by a couple of screws. Some times there are more than one, designed to catch different sized food particles. they will sometimes get clogged up. Under the screens will be an impeller that is attached to the shaft of the motor mounted on the other side. make sure it doesnt look like chunks are missing out of it. If it looks like it is in rough condition you may want to replace it. most are plastic. call a appliance repair parts store with your info to get a new one. more than likely they are very cheap and easy to replace. If none of these remedys work, start looking at the motor that turns the impeller. But usually these other quick fixes work. good luck!

The washer either stopped before the cycle was complete or you may have a pump problem.
Also, if it empties into a garbage disposal, that might have been full or partially so.

to keep the seals from cracking there must be some water in the bottom of the dishwasher.
