I'm newly married with on child, would I get a better refund if I do my own taxes or do I file jointly. My husband does make more than I with his small business

When did you get married? If you got married before January 1st, you must either file married filing separately or married filing jointly. Jointly is nine times out of ten more advantageous. Especially with your husband owning his own business. Without you and the child, he would end up probably owing.

As you are married, you can file as Married-Filing Jointly or Married-Filing Separately. Single and Head of Household is no longer available to you when you are married.

Filing jointly usually is better but you can run it both ways to find out.

Filing jointly is almost always more beneficial.
