That is because men see this as a Hallmark Holiday and women see this as a way for their man to show them they love them. Men only do this for us..men are great!

Valentine's Day has become too commercial, just like every other holiday. People should make it a habit to treat their loved ones just as wonderfully as they do on Valentine's Day.
Yes, women do seem more preoccupied with Valentine's Day. A lot of men usually shop last minute, while women think weeks and even months ahead. Getting the perfect, most thoughtful gift shouldn't be that difficult especially if they know the person really well. I guess the people who asked those questions about what gift to get their loved ones only wanted opinions about what others are getting their loved ones.

I think the preoccupation for advice comes from the fact that most women just like to talk more about that kind of thing. For example when a woman mentions she's getting married 9 times out of 10 all her friends will ask "ooh have you set a date? what are your colours? Can I see the ring? how did he propose?" etc etc etc whereas when a guy says it his friends are like "hey congrats!" and that's about it. Women in general just go nuts for that sort of thing. I'm not saying they're all like that, cause I know I'm not! As for why you don't see as many guys asking what to get their significant other for Valentines day I think that may be because a lot of them won't think of it till a few days prior to the 14th!

Yes, I've noticed. I don't understand what people think they can gain by asking total strangers for gift ideas. It's a very personal thing. I'm not big on Valentine's Day, and neither is my husband, but if I decided to get him something other than a card, I'll decide what that will be. Good question.

Yes, I have noticed, especially because, as you know, it doesn't really take all that much to make men happy.
What it doesn't take to make a man happy is flowers or stuffed animals or cards or candlelight dinners.
I think most of these women are sadly stunted in some childlike state, a result of some over-protected childhood, where mommy and daddy have told them what to do in every situation, and care- bears and candy and rainbows and hugs are all that is needed to make the world a happy, happy place, and all they want is the affirmation from other people like them....

I don't know it seems a dumb holiday. I get gifts year round if I see something he likes.
