This is an interesting question. What was the straw made of? Plastic often (but not always) is made from petrochemicals. If this is the case, gasoline is probably a very potent solvent of this material. If the straw indeed completely dissolves it would be diluted by the gasoline in the tank and probably move through the the fuel system with no problem - until combustion. The plastic may resolidify in the combustion chambers. So put some gasoline from the same donor vehicle into a glass jar and put another (same kind) straw in the gas and see what happens. I did this with the ubiquitous sugar-in-tank question to discover that sugar in fact does not dissolve in gasoline.

Gas will dissolve plastic. Don't believe me go pour some in a red plastic cup. As for the straw one of two things will happen. A it will dissolve B. It will sit in there and do nothing since it will be suspend by the screen.
I'm not sure how awful gas that is contaminated by a dissolved plastic straw will be.

I would make sure not to start my engine, I can imagine that a plastic straw wouldn't do to well in the inner workings of an engine. I would get my car towed to a mechanic.

If its part of a siphon hose, that you bought at the parts store, then it won't melt, unless it's a plastic drinking straw, I wouldn't worry, the fuel pump in the tank has a screen on it that won't allow further travel through it.

You're siphoning, or "siphening" gas with a straw? Sheesh. I think that's the least of your problems. Yeah, your entire engine will be ruined.

It wont bother anything if you leave it there, but if you want to remove your tank and take it out is not that difficult either. Remove the 2 front allen screws then hinge your tank up remove your fuel line and electrical connection. remove rear screws and lift it off.

I don't believe that gasoline dissolves plastic, and I think you'd be okay...I'd visit my mechanic or just call AAA. Good luck!

your screwed. either its going to clog the gas line or you will have to have the tank drained and removed to open it. Or take your
chances and see what happens.
