Mauve was discovered accidentally by the chemist William Henry Perkin in 1856, whilst trying to synthesize quinine. This chance discovery revolutionized the dyeing industry. It would be fitting therefore if luck were mauve.

I think it would be yellow. Don't know why really - luck just seems like a nice bright colour to me.
