As race is a hot potato noone wants to touch, I have come here to ask as you are an honest bunch. I am a black girl who was born and bred in Britan but now I want to leave. I love this country but I have always felt so unwanted here. I am married with two young babies and I have started looking at places in the countryside so they can have a great upbringing.

But I really stick out and I have felt hostility coming off people in waves. My mother was also born and bred here so I have no affinity with another country and am "british" in my ways. My Grandparents who emigrated here are both half black, one is also half Indian, the other half Chinese. They hail from Jamaica and Honduras. So a mish mash.

I want to go to a really well functioning black society. where the econmy is not too atrocious and where my dh and I can get good jobs. Is there a black country like this?

I don't want to move somewhere where people will be fake and also my dh is white and children are mixed.

When I say fake, I mean ppl who befriend you to get visa's and such.

Also my husband is white and always comfortable wherever he goes but it must be somewhere that my children will not experience a lot of discrimiation due to being mixed.

Thank you in advance.

Go to Trinidad. It is does not have that hostility, and mixed race children are loved and valued. It's an economy on the rise, with the political will, at a national level, to be both a leading CARICOM country (ahead of the formation of a single market), and to be a fully developed country by the year 2020 (a national strategy called Vision 2020). It has a significant petro-chemical industry, several large groups of companies, and an extensive public sector. That's where we're heading too.

in all honesty i would say the West Indies i was watching the "wild caribbean" on television and it seems fantastic there. your ancestors only came to England because they wanted a better future for their children but you have a choicea life in the sun or here. i wish you luck whichever you decide to do.

It's a shame you have to feel this way, but believe me this happens to everyone everywhere unfortunately. You just need to live somewhere where people keep themselves to themselves. People in general nowadays just seem to have problems with everyone. If I knew you i would constantly be fascinated with your heritage- it's amazing!

Maybe if i was you i would stick to the midlands and downwards, they have the higher percentage of cultures and more available work.

I can't think of any country better than the United States, but I'm biased. There are nice areas (such as Atlanta) that aren't very racist and are welcoming to black professionals. Of course, no matter where you go, you will encounter racism. So you have to consider the benefits of living in that country (job opportunities, etc) vs the inevitable racism.
