Dolen -- we have separation of Church and State in the US. I am not suggesting that US foreign policy needs to be consistent with a religious text, or the teachings of a deity. HOWEVER, if I am a Christian, I should not permit myself to indulge in violations of His laws under any circumstances. And, His law is above the civil law. Besides, most of our foreign policy is also illegal under international law. So, it qualifies as sketchy using most objective standards of ethics, even the most secular.

Goose -- if you are not Christian, you are right, it does not matter at all. But, aren't most of us Christian? Hasn't every President been a Christian? Does the President conduct foreign policy?
Laws are similar around the world. Most are based on Hebrew law as passed down through Moses and the prophets. This includes all but the pure East -- India and China. But, those countries have religions from which very similar laws sprang forth.
Should our foreign policy be amoral? If so, how can we elect Christian Presidents to oversee it?
