The USA was in a severe recession in 1992. The stock market hit skid row in 1987 and the effects carried on until 1995 when the economy improved. Plenty of corporate layoffs in 1992 by giants companies like IBM and AT&T. Also Ross Perot ran for president. He was a strong third party candidate and took votes away from G. Bush Sr., thus causing Clinton to become president.
