If they are going to do a background check on you, then just be honest. If not, then I would not offer that information up right away.

I don't think you have to tell them if you were arrested. If you were convicted of a felony and the employment application asks that, you do have to reveal it, but I wouldn't just bring up an arrest in the interview.

If they ask or if it is a written question on the application, you should answer yes according to the question. They usually ask if it is a felony conviction.
You should answer yes and they should not hold that against you depending on the type of work.

Most companies now do background checks, they will find out during the check. Tell them if you feel you must.
