The Cricket or Pocket Cell Companies are the BEST. Example. For a flat $37 you get UNLIMITED minues and UNLIMITED Tex messaging, and caller ID, internet service, and some others. That is you are not that picky on phones. I wanted a PDA so I got my Sprint PPC 6700 for $200. When my contract is up in about 20 months and Cricket/Pocket have a decent PDA phone then I will go that route.
This type of phone, Pocket/Cricket, is good, because one flat rate and there is NO CONTRACT. The other phone companies you have to pay to get out of the contract or suffer bad credit rating. But the Cricket and Pocket put out some nice phones too but it is their plans that make them superior to the ones with the contract plans. Then also, by getting the cricket or pocket phone, you could do away with your home phone. I paid about $22 for a phone from SouthWestern bell or rather ATT now. That was the minimum. No call wait, and no features. Just a plain line. Now if I had the pocket phone, then my phone bill would not be $59 but $37. That is $262 a year I would save, cuz I could use the pocket as a home phone too, since I do not have to worry about minutes. Think about that one now.
Late PS. Sprint has the worst customer service. If you do not believe me than J.D. Powers, a well known, survey company, rates Sprint at the bottom. My sprint plan is $44.95 for 1000 anytime minutes, with nights and weekend free. Cheaper than the verizon. Also I forgot, Cricket and Pocket are limited phone coverage but if you are not a traveling salesman but stay in the city they should suffice. But like Sprint and verizon did not have good coverage at first, but takes time for the coverage to grow.

Sprint is. They have the largest voice coverage. the fastest data and cool phones. their plans right now are nights are at 7pm, weekends unlimited, no roaming, unlimited long dist, unlimited mobile-to-mobile,
* $39- 450 minuts
* $59- 900 minutes
$79- 1350 minutes
$99- 2000 minutes
If your phone has a camera (which they are offering for free) you could get their data plan for $15 and test messaging $5 (300), $10 (1000), $15 unl. if you want your minutes to start at 6pm $5.

Verizon to me is the best I have come across so far. I personally have had Cingular and Verizon. From what I hear from friends and business associates, Sprint in not very good.
