Volume V of the block of Granite:
V= L* W* H= 0.45*0.35*0.05 =0.007875 m^3.
The density D is given by :
D = M/V =21.7/0.007875 = 2755.6kg/m^3.

The usual density for a granite is about 2.7 t/m³.
They are right and your sample must be a granite!
