After four kids I would advise 6 weeks, start slow and listen to your body, mind you, breast feeding is very exhausting.
Depending on your body, you'll loose the weight.
My first child, it took me 3 months to get back,
2nd, 6 months, 3 and 4th it took me about 9 months.
Good luck
Oh for C-section, you should wait for about 2 months and get your OK from your doctor first.
Babe when you see your healthy lovely baby, how your body looks wouldn't be priority 1!

There are some great books out there that might help you.
One is Bounce Back Into Shape After Baby by Caroline C. Creager and she does things step by step so that even though you shouldn't be running marathons at 2 wks postpartum there are things you can do.
Another is Outsmarting the Female Fat Cell After Pregnancy: Every Woman's Guide to Shaping Up, Slimming Down, and Staying Sane After the Baby by Debra Waterhouse
Both are great reads and have great info.

It actually depends if you deliver vaginally or by c-section. Your doctor should be able to give you a better answer though. I will be delivering tomorrow due to a c-section and I won't be able to excericise for 6 weeks. This is kind of hard for I have been excercising all my pregnancy. I would love to be back at my size five that I was before I got pregnant with my first daughter. Hope you can accomplish your goal. Congrats!!

I would wait the 6 weeks most doctors recommend. You need time to heal. Plus, I found breastfeeding melts the pounds off on its own. Just eat healthy. I wouldn't worry about weight right now. Just remember, it took 9 months to put it on. You should give yourself at least that long to take it off. Just relax for the first few weeks.

They tell you 6 weeks, but I didn't wait that long. It depends on how fast your body heals.

As soon as you feel ready to exercise. Just remember that pain is your body's way of telling you to stop.
