Yes, by and large they do, or at least the ones who end up *in charge of things* do.

As for why...? Who knows. I *moved* from a Red State myself, up to the cold armpit of Illinois to *get away* from that crap, and to try to get a life in some place *civilized*. Did it work? No. Did the Billy-Bob Redneck garbage *follow me north*? Oh yeah.

I think it's something in the water at this point. As in, we are using so much genetically modified garbage in our crops and so much in the way of herbicide and pesticide resistant (and dependant) crops that we are *swimming* in more toxins than anyone wants to admit.
