I have completed my Cert Ed for teaching adults, I asked my tutor the same question he recons 45mins per session is about the max that you can keep people interested .

A normal attention span for children is 3 to 5 minutes at a task per year of growth. In other words, if a two-year-old concentrates on a task for 6-10 minutes, they should have a normal attention span.

Concentration span is 20 minutes, but that just means that you should change the way you are delivering slightly, to maintain attention. Use visual aids, change tone of voice, move about instead of sitting still, get the students to do some activity - usual sort of stuff covered in teaching notes really.

As everone else said between about 15 and 30 minutes but it all depends on what is being taught, interest levels and also levels of maturity for example if you had a really hyper, imature 14 year old and tried to teach them trigonomatry or something theyd probably only pay attention for 5 minutes if your lucky.

In this TV age, according to studies, the accepted time is 15 minutes, believe it or not. This is due to viewing habits and the spacing of adverts.
From my own experience, teaching, it is roughly half an hour which is a bummer when the lesson lasts forty five minutes

Depends on subject matter and level of interest.Multiply age by 2 is a good rule of thumb up to adulthood.eg age 15=30 minutes.

For most students, the reccomendation for switching tasks is about 15 minutes. Except for high school senoirs. For them you only get about 30 seconds.

the older the longer as long as they have been trained to. For a i hour lesson I used to allow 20 minutes for mew to teach - 20 minutes for q & A or discussion and 20 minutes for them to do written work to consolidate.

I have heard it is about one minute for each year of your life, i.e. a 10 year old can sustain concentration for about 10 minutes.

somewhere between 30 and 50 mins-----------after that you have got an uphill job
