then again why do you think some adults do it?

2 reasons working in tandem.
1. Their nose itches from whatever is inside (the lesser reason)
2. They need somewhere to put their hands. Touch is a compulsion from birth until death, and while an adult may choose to cuddle with a loved one or get a massage, a child's opportunities for stimulation are limited to his immediate world, which, unfortunately, leads him/her to stick fingers in some otherwise taboo places.

Adults do it because it has become a learned behavior. When something stresses them or frightens them, it is common to regress to a time when things were simple and life was good, aka childhood. Thus certain idiosyncratic behaviors learned in childhood could remanifest (almost always SUBcounciously). Then again, even phychology students don't know everything, maybe they all (kids and adults alike) just like the saltiness of a nice juicy one.

and then they wipe the boogies on something. Someone I know had a kid that wiped boogers on the wall. So he made his kid scrape the boogers off with his teeth. I know EWWWW but he said the kid NEVER wiped a booger on anything else again.

Because sometimes just blowing the nose doesn't get all the stuff out!

There's a big boogie in the way and it's bothering them. No tissue around, so they dig it out and hopefully flick it instead of eating it. OOOOOOOOOO LOL!

cause the adults think no one is looking when they are digging and the kids do it cause it's a habit

some bogeys have hard corners on them and they irritate the nose, it has to come out.

use a tissue, away from others and wash your hands.
and for God's sake don't peek.
