If you put in your two weeks notice because you just cannot take the heat of the job and your bosses dad calls you to have a meeting and then tries to bribe you to stay would you? I am an office manager at a car dealership and I am fed up with the stuff that goes on around here. If someone doesn't do their job I am expected to pick up the slack.(I don't mean just in the accounting office) My boss yells and curses at me on a weekly basis. My bosses dad is a multimillionaire with his own company. They seem to think that money will solve anything. Am I in the wrong for not taking back my two weeks and accepting their offer of a huge raise? Please help!!!

Oh my gosh... avoid that atmosphere like the plague!! You're definitely doing the right thing :)

Good luck on finding a more deserving employer!

It sounds as if you are an important part of the company and that your bosses Dad recognizes this. Did you explain your reasons for resigning to either of them? If not, then this would be the ideal time to get it off your chest without risk since you are ready to move on anyway. It could be that your boss is unaware of how badly he treats you.(some people have no clue as to how they come across to others) If that is the case, saying something to him could have a positive effect and make it possible for you to stay at the higher salary. If you still don't want to stay, that is your prerogative as there is nothing worse than going to a job you hate no matter how much money is involved.

Is your self worth for sale? Will you be abused for a living? Because that sounds like the job you have. Is your mortality for sale? How long can you live your life enjoyably like that? Your boss and his father will get what is coming to them. Happiness is worth more than all of the money in the world.

You are absolutely not wrong. I recently left a job that was paying me more than I make now. I could not take this woman's crazy rants and deadend projects anymore. Remeber that money is not everything and finding a job you love will be hard but worth it.

It's not wrong if you don't need the money....but don't sacrafice your financial position just for the sake of pride. Take the money and look for another job...once you find one with better pay, then leave.

Quit now, they will poison you slowly with thier expectations based on the raise they gave you.
