If you are interested in a funny, exciting type of fiction; I'd like to recommend what kept my attention. I have a very hard time focusing on reading and rarely enjoy it, but the series I've been reading has done a good job keeping my interest and helped me enjoy reading. I recommend Janet Evanovich's books.
Look her up on the web. She has One for the Money, Two for the Dough, Three to get Deadly, Four to Score, High Five, Hot Six, Seven Up, Hard Eight, To the Nines, Ten Big Ones, Eleven on Top, Twelve Sharp and a new one called Plum Lovin'. I still need to purchase the Plum Lovin - I've got all her other ones and read the over again. These are her "Stephanie Plum" character series. She's got other series but I prefer the Plum series.

Hi,Quackers,
Well, with Darren Shans' vampire themes, Anne Rice may be a bit too heavy for you, but on a lighter fantasy note, try Garth Nix's 'Lirael' and 'Sabriel'. Lots of sourcery. Also,Lirael has a cool dog, known as the disreputable dog, that she conjures up with some spells that go horribly wrong. She ends up with possibly the most powerful pet on the planet- half good, half evil, with a witty line in conversation.
Great stuff.
Phillip Pullmans' Dark materials trilogy I thoroughly recommend- film out late this year 'The Golden compass' based on first book 'Northern Lights'

How about Mary Janice Davidson and her Undead series about a young quirky vampire named Betsy with a shoe fetish , who later becomes the Queen of Vampires? It`s hillarious and unputdownable - I couldn't rest untill I read all 5 books! The books are Undead and Unwed, Unded and Unemlpoyed, Undead and Unappreciated, Undead and Unreturnable, Undead and Unpopular.

I love the 'Flowers in The Attic' series by Virginia Andrews. Also; P J Tracy are really good authors, I have read 'Want to Play' 'Live Bait' and 'Dead Run' by them and I have really enjoyed them, I cant wait to read the next and get dissapointed when I finish it.

I loved Clan of the Cave Bear! Great book.
Della Reese's biography was excellent.
If you want fiction, the Harry Potter series was actually really good and addictive. Enjoy!
