♥ = press and hold ALT key and press 3 on the numeric keypad, then release the ALT key

try other combinations of numbers , you can draw boxes once with some

You know the smiley symbol you have just above a conversation box? click on that, move it over the symbol and let the code appear. If you are feeling lazy or in a hurry, click on a smiley and copy and paste it from the convo box.

There is probably a simpler way, but what I do is open a new Word document, go to Insert, and click on Symbols. Then you can choose which symbols you want, and copy and paste them to whereever you want.

Go to 'fonts' . . . you might be talking about either MS Outlook or Wingdings.
