when I lived overseas, anything that reminded me of home was a welcome gift (a calendar from my favorite team, or some article of clothing w/ team logo). Unless your friend is already living in Switzerland or Belgium, chocolate is always a good gift for most guys. If your friend is someplace hot, candy isn't a good choice, though, cause it melts and makes a mess. Some publications will send to overseas locations, so if your friend has a hobby, or a passion for an activity (running, golf, autos, etc.) you can probably find a publication that you could send him as a gift. A photo of you or a favorite place, in a nice frame is a good gift. Last, you could always send a nice card w/ a schedule of when you're likely to be reached, along w/ a pre-paid calling card so you and he can talk instead of just email. cheers, Cardsfan

I was given 21 little presents like that for my 21st birthday, depending on how old she is you could do the same. Its not so much what the presents are its more about the thought and effort, some possible ideas: miniature bottle of champagne (could be any alcohol miniature), sweets, novelty tissues, Kids bubbles (still a big kid), Smellies - miniature shower gels, novelty sponge, etc. party poppers, if you have time to make a CD of favourite songs always a winner, a miniature birthday cake (normally sell them in card shops), her favourite magazine earing/s Have a look round Boots, Poundland, card shops, joke shops and depending on if she's still a big kid have a look in a toy shop, they always have things that are just a bit silly but fun
