Try some Tylenol or Motrin before bed. And you also might want to try cereal in the bottle. Other than that there really isn't much else! It is probably just phase.

Well, teething, contrary to common beliefs, does not last more than 2-3 days. It's just easy to blame everything on teething, so people have been doing it without knowing. So if your baby has been waking up frequently and it's been going on for a while, it is more likely due to the separation anxiety babies stat experiencing around this age. The fact that he is not always hungry also points at that. My son (soon to be 8 months old) is also doing it, only he wakes up a lot more often than 2-3 times a night. I help him sleep by putting one of my soft cotton t-shirts, tied in a tight knot (so he can't wrap himself into it), under his cheek. This way he thinks I'm there next to him and goes back to sleep.
I would not recommend trying to force him to sleep, ESPECIALLY with the help of drugs, as it's recommended above (it's crazy to start attacking your baby's immune system by drugs from this age! he has a lifetime of taking medicines ahead of him, and these things are better started later than sooner)! Your baby is very close to the time when he will start sleeping through the night on his own, without you having to do anything about it. Most babies start sleeping through the night at the age of 9 or 10 months.
Lots of patience to you and good luck! You've been through the worst already, and you're in home stretch, just be patient!

My 8 month old is also teething right now and waking often too. I just give her Tylenol before bed. You could even try the homeopathic teething tablets. They work for my baby but I know some people that haven't had much luck with them.

Hyland's teething tablets do wonders, you can get them at your regular pharmacy most times; and they are all natural. This too shall pass- it is a phase:) Hang in there!
edited to add- cereal in the bottle won't help, that's a myth. It might even give him a belly ache. Actually, you shouldn't give cereal at all, it is only empty carbohydrates with fake nutrients added. Breastmilk and whole foods for the first year is the best nutrition.

Oh gosh, this does no longer sound interesting. For you or infant! shall we see: You did not element out his day time naps....is he likely having too many? attempt scaling down his naps, or reducing one out if feasible. If he has a lot less naps, he will be more suitable drained and sleep more suitable at nighttime. perhaps reduce down an afternoon nap, or have it previously so as that he's wide awake longer previously bedtime. Your searching at 2 naps an afternoon for an 8 month previous. One interior the morning and one interior the afternoon...is that what he does? if so attempt to diminish them down a touch. Or if he has 3 naps, see in case you may reduce it right down to 2. also: attempt moving into and instead of choosing him up (till it is for his feed) and purely make shushing noises, or rub his lower back till he's quiet. it ought to have change into habit for him to awaken and cry for you. truly, he doesn't want something he purely is conscious you'd be there. keep the lighting fixtures fixtures off and do not communicate. finally he ought to keep in mind that crying interior the nighttime doesn't get something. wish that permits :-)

Have you tried sitting in the room as he is going to sleep. As for teething give him a small dose of baby tyenol before you lay him down. Also (and I know most parents hate this one) try letting have a paci when he lays down, preferbably one with bumps or ridges on it. it will sooth the swollen gums a little.
