We are a fairly new couple, so I don't want it to be over-the-top romantic,but it should have some meaning. He's not into pop music, but he listens mostly to stuff like Bob Dylan, Beatles, Beck, and some pretty obscure stuff like the Beta Band, Daniel Johnston, as well as the occassional mainstream stuff like Gorillaz and K-os. If all else fails and I can't find a song in time, I might try to write something. I'm not amazing at guitar either, I know basic chords and I can figure out basic riffs, so something simpler would be better, and I would be playing acoustic guitar. Any suggestions? Thanks!

OK ok ok, I thought about this for a while so I hope you like it but maybe not....
Its not over the top but it has some touchy feely stuff...but overall sweet, its also pretty simple to play and get into, and I have played it before for my sweety so I hope this works....

Here's what I do for my girlfriend. I take a song by a group she likes. The I write my own lyrics to it (ala Weird Al). For instance, I took a Kinks song, (Lola), learned it on guitar and then sang my lyrics. It's much sweeter. But if you want to go your route...i Would choose "Do You Want To Know A Secret." That is my favorite Beatles' love song and would love it if my g/f sang it to me.

I would suggest a song that remind you of him. Even if he doesn't like the music if it has deep meaning to you he'd appreciate it.
