There are always those myths...if your carrying high its a girl, low is a boy. Faster heartbeat is the boy, slower is the girl bla bla bla, but I dont really think there is. But it's weird...for some reason when I was pregnant with my little girl at age 14, I started loving the color pink and b4 I hated it. Then, when I had her I hated pink again LOL. Same with my little boy when I was 15, except it was the color blue.

that's not true, I've had 2 boys and I had my first ultra-sound at 8 weeks and then every month until birth, and it's normal in Europe. But an old wives tale (it worked with me) is that if your face glows during pregnancy and you are "pretty" - meaning no spots, redness on your face - your are likely to have a boy (I did on both occasions). Whereas if you break out in spots, have an "ugly face" - meaning not looking too good, redness, puffiness...., you vomit then it's a girl.
Good luck - Hope you have what you want, although as long as it's healthy & you have a quick labour and all goes well - that's all you need.

At 19 to 20 weeks they will do the ultra sound and can tell what it is if you want to know! No ultra sound is harmful, or they would not be doing them!!! I have had 7 total and none hurt my 3 and always showed the little thing, that I was hoping was not there ( I wanted a girl) and saw quickly the boy thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope. thoroughly fake. "they are announcing" if yu're yearning chocolates this is a woman, salty issues this is a boy...i'm yearning chocolates and he has a penis. those are all previous better halves' thoughts, although this is relaxing to wager! the only thank you to renowned formerly ultrasound is amnio or CVS, whilst they take some amniotic fluid and run some exams, they would be waiting to work out the toddler's intercourse chromosomes besides. yet your well-being care expert probably won't carry out the two of those tactics till you're at large danger for delivery defects. carry in there!

I agree with Memphis Kitten... I knew what i'm having(a boy) from the time i first found out i was pregnant.. weird thing is, my mother knew i was pregnant before me and my husband did, and she knew it was a boy as well! so did my brother!
Ive had one u/s done, and i presonally think u/s arent good as well, but also, i dont trust doctors, thats why i have midwives.i worked in the hospital and seen the way the trully are behind patients' backs, and i'd rather die at my own hand then at the hand of a quack.
Most dependant thing to me is, go with your first instincts.. mothers know thier children better than some doctor or t.v. screen

Ultra sounds are not harmful! Doctors wouldn't have them done if they were. Yes, at about 17-20 weeks they can possibly determine the sex if the baby cooperates.

You can also find out the sex by a couple of tests. The CVS test is one as well as the amniocentesis. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about the ultrasound. If they weren't safe the doctors wouldn't do them. There just aren't any studies showing the effects of "too many" ultrasounds. Who can really afford to have "too many"?

well this isn't fool proof but they say a girl has a faster hear trate than a boy baby. so if you are far enough along for the doctor to hear the baby's heartbeat then if it is high then it is suppose to be a girl. ultrasounds don't hurt the baby but a lot of insurance companies won't pay for them.

not true, its just sound waves. no harm done. and you cannot tell without the ultrasound. i only had 2 done. one to make sure i was pregnant adn one to see the sex at 7 months. oh i forgot about the blood test they can do but i would be more worried about the needle than the ultrasound.

Ultrasounds are fine - they're using sound waves, there is no radiation involved.

The only other way to tell is amniocentesis, which is not only invasive, but carries a small risk of miscarriage.
