Why aren't more women afraid of Islam? Here's what it says about them:?

Sura (24:31) - Women are to lower their gaze around men, so they do not look them in the eye.

Sura (4:34) - "Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great."

Muslim (4:2127) - Muhammad struck his favorite wife, Aisha, in the chest one evening when she left the house without his permission.

Sura (2:223) - "Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how ye will."

Wow I didn't realize. They say that Muslim's are no more violent toward there wives then anyone else, but this proves that they do teach violence.

Unfortunately some people, not just women, accept and feel comfortable in a subservient position for some psychological reason. It could be that they were raised that way and don't know any better.

Islam is not the only man made religion that puts women in that position. Catholicism does as well as the Pentecostal religion. Even Paul of Biblical fame was a misogynist.

Keeping women in a subservient position is a statement of fear and it is nothing new. It has it's roots in the physical fact that women bleed every month but don't die. Primitive man seen this as mysterious, magical and sometimes demonic.

It's unfortunate because until we all work together as the human race we will never truly move forward as one.

It's pretty easy to pick passages out of an archaic tome and use it as an example of how "backward" a society is. See, watch:

Exodus 21:7 - "KJV: And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do."

Leviticus 15:19 - "NIV: When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening."

Exodus 35:2 - "NIV: For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death."

Oh noes! All Christians must believe in all this! What a backwards society!

Or we can examine how women are actually treated in SOME Islamic societies (obviously some are more progressive than others). But that would be HARD.

I so believe in salvation through "Forgiveness" (Christ).

Sure Christianity too favors male supremacy, and certainly, those who want to spoof the truth by spotlighting instead of showing the totally can easily do so.

However, the parts that disturb me about Islam are the "Capital Punishments". I guess I don't believe in the eye-for-and eye ... or Renee Bobbitt (although Funny in Western society --- scary that it's OK in Islam) mentality to solve problems. I believe in allowing the sinner to come to terms with their sin, and then for them to have the opportunity to repent.

I don't really want to focus on the spotlight you've gave ... as I'm sure there is other positive stuff that can also be offered ... however, society is showing men getting hands cut off (steeling) ... penis's cut off (adultery) ... and killing sisters who have pre-marital sex (non-chastity). Seems that they make themselves Gods' by being Judge, Jury, Prosecutor, and Executor in one.

Again, this is an opinion swayed by current events rather than a fundamental understanding within the philosophical religion.

Muhammad ?? Didn't he have seven wives too ? Or were they all vigins ? How do you check to make sure they are all home at the same time and not spending time with another brother or lover ? I love women but religion nor politics should have to degrade women, after all wasn't your mother a woman ?

Because that is how they were raised and what they have been conditioned to believe since birth. An Islamic woman would NEVER disagree with a man, nor speak out against him or her religion.

If you read what I wrote before I am very sorry for being rude. It was my fault that I was. I should've known better. I am an American woman who fits into what you see as written above. I really like the way that I am and I enjoy it very much. You just look at it different than I do. You see it is my immense pleasure to see that my husband's needs are met. His needs get met so do mine; ever think of that one? It's not as bad as you think it is. All is done to keep harmony in the home and a brand of commons sense will tell us harmony in the home is the most desired thing above all. Take for example your last comment. I make sure that I keep my body and sex organs in shape. I am always most pleasant to my husband's face and behind his back, I guard all of his secrets. It's really nothing to worry about and if it's not for any man or woman they should always avoid what is not for them.

Christianity also oppresses women, just not as obviously as Islam.

Because that would mean that Bush is right to face Muslim terrorist head on.

No liberal woman will ever admit to that.
So they are rather be subjects of Islam and not have any rights than to give Bush credit.
