My fav' on this suject is :- The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Author William Shirer.
This is a book I have read over and over again, one thing I really like about this book is that it's like reading a sci fi novel, but its all true facts not at all boring I will continue to read it and use it as a reference for ever.
Another thing I like about this book is the way the Author sticks in little asterisks and footnotes to reference where he got his information from.
It really is a fantastic and comprehensive work. And I found it completly unbiased on all counts.
Just re read your question (a bit late now) this book only really mentions WWI in passing ref' Hitlers bit of involvment, but have a read anyway, you can get it from the library.

Hi,Lilishor,
www.worldwar1.com has a good reference section, covering the years leading up to the outbreak of war. It will save you buying lots of books. There are references to books you can buy.
Rise and fall of the third Reich,as previously mentioned,is a great reference.
Good luck- it's a big subject.

I haven't read the book myself - but i was very close to buying it today - but it's called 'The Book Thief'. Not a lot in the titile i know but the reviews are great. One said that it could be placed equally on a shelf with Anne Frank.
It's about the outbreak of WW2, Nazi Germany and is written in the point of view of Death which is quite interesting!
I will definetly buy it next!
Hope that helps! XD!

Try "The Great World War 1914-45" by John Bourne, Peter Liddell and Ian Whitehead. 2 Volumes (2002), available in paperback. Modern scholarship and good reading.

the dark continent by mark mazower goes in to the political side of the wars and past them in to the cold war. I had to use it for an essay but it is quite meaty book. Also there is two websites that are good for finding info, humbul.ac.uk/history which is a humanties web site and is really good for accessing resources and history.ac.uk/search/ that will give you details of books and articles.hope this helps
