There is never which brand is better cuz every couple of months one brand may come with a better laptop, then another couple of months later, another brand comes out with a even better laptop.

So do not listen to opinions on here. Go to pcworld.com. From here they test the newest laptops and give you the tests results and their opinions which is better than my opinion since evidently me and millions others do not test 10 laptops to figure out which one is the best.

Lenovo Thinkpads are hands down, the best Laptops on the market. Although, if I had to buy a laptop tomorrow, I'd strongly consider the Apple Powerbook running the Intel Core 2 duo...since you can run both OSX and Windows....

However, if you're just looking for a regular consumer laptop...it really doesn't matter....just stick with a well known brand name (HP, Compaq, Dell, Toshiba, Sony, etc.)

Although there are gaming laptops available if that's what you're looking for...I'd look at the Alienware or Dell XPS series. Of course, these are not very mobile, since they pack a lot of hardware into it...and honestly, for gaming, I'd prefer to stick to a desktop.

Anyway, good luck.

Big C is right. The best idea is to check with the people that evaluate them for a living; not just a bunch of us that all have our own prejudices. Good Luck and remember the right answer for today will likely be wrong next week because new machines are announced that frequently.

My advice is not to buy till you need it and then look what the experts have to say...then buy it and forget about it till you need to replace it again.

ASUS. Great build quality. Very good for the price, though certainly not the cheapest out there.

It really depends on what you want to use it for?

Dell................

Mac...............

Mac mostly for multi media purposes
but still does most of what a PC offers.

Hope this helps?
