Yes, you can have a stud initally put in (make sure its a "labret stud", not a barbell), and you should be able to find one with a tiny ball, but you cannot change it for at least several weeks, until it its at the very least almost completely healed (the lip heals quite fast, but it depends on your health and how well you care for it), or you run the risk of giving yourself and infection, not being able to get the new piece through, or giving yourself a scar. Also, most retainers (the clear thingys) are made of acrylic or other plastic, which is more porous and prone to miniscule scratches than surgical steel so it can harbor germs and infection, therefore you must be healed and infection free with a surgical steel piece first.
Once you change it after it is fully but freshly healed, use Listerine or glyoxide mouth rinse again for a few days to stave off infection and swelling, since it might become a little aggitated by the new poking around on the inside where it still may be a bit tender.

Here's the deal:
If you dont want it pierced with a ring, tell them. You're the one paying them, you got all the power, if you want a stud, ask! I had my septum done (like a bull piercing), my nose and snakebites at one point and whatever i said alwyas went lol.
Also, if you go to a good enough piercing parlour, they should have something clear to put it in, a clear stud or a flesh coloured one, etc. But putting a foreign object in your lip i WOULDNT suggest, especially after a week.
HELLO INFECTION!

ah shush.
if you want the piercing, do it.
you CAN get it pierced with a stud; just ask.
if you change it after a week you risk it getting infected. [don't recommend doing so] but it is possible to be done. sterilize it and everything around you while you change it. 'clear thingys' aren't good for healing in my opinion.
reguardless be sure you get a flatback it's better on your teeth. :]
any other questions just email me.

they should be able to. I mean I have my nose pierced and I sometimes have to put in a clear stud for work purposes also. So i think that you can. Good luck. Let me know how it turns out

If you pierce your lip, my advise is -dont take it out and change it after only a week. I might get infected and swollen and that would be really bad looking. Plus it would be extremely sore. If I were you, I would wait about a month. Good Luck.

Whenever I see someone with an earring where it shouldn't be, I don't look at them well. Piercing show your reputation. When you go for a job interview, you might not get hired. Same goes for tats.
