You're remembering one of the fairy tales in the Cinerama production, The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm, produced by imagi-movie-maker George Pal. The story you remember is called The Singing Bone, and starred British actor Terry-Thomas as a cowardly knight and comedian Buddy Hackett as his servant. The knight kills Buddy in order to take the credit for a dragon Buddy slew--Buddy's ghost sings through the flute that was made of his legbone. The two other tales in the movie were The Shoemaker and the Elves and the Dancing Princess.
The movie was only on video via laserdisc,as far as I know, but you might check Amazon, or the Internet Movie Database sight just to check.
