I'm an aspiring young actress (15) and I got my braces off so I need more headshots. I want my headshots to look better than my last ones and I was wondering what would help me stand out but look natural? Any other advice would be great too!

Ok, listen carefully..BLACK & WHITE PHOTOS ARE OUT!! No one uses them anymore. Photographers shoot digital photos which are less expensive than film and you can use the digital photos to submit to projects online. I recommend shooting outdoors because natural lighting looks, well more natural. I am an actor in Los Angeles and my friend lives in NY, black & white photos are out. Plus with digital photos if you really want B&W photos for some strange reason you can always change them with a simple computer program or ask the photog to give you some B&W files. Good luck!

Please note: Photographers that shoot digital photos have professional cameras that have great quality, I am not sure why someone is advising you not to get digital photos.

I know you probably don't live in LA, but here it a link to my photographer who shoots digital color photos, just so you can see the quality of digital photos:

Smiling: There are 2 varieties of headshots a million.) Dramatic (for theatrics, television and so on) which you mustn't be smiling 2.) commercial - which you need to be smiling So it is reckoning on what youre attempting to end, in spite of the undeniable fact that it's not a bad concept to get the two. Hair: between the large pushes right this moment, in la anyhow is "general looking human beings" get jobs. the selection one concern to remember is that a casting director doesnt opt to have a headshot that looks no longer something such as you. elect a shot which you think of maximum appropriately represents what you appear to be a large style of the time, hair blanketed. outfits: convey a number of outfits to the shoot, they're going to enable you alter and take a lot of photos in distinctive outfits. Dont get loopy, dont positioned on something with trademarks, dont positioned on something with a nuty trend; the concentration should be on your face, no longer your outfits. Goodluck!

Get a black and white photo that looks like you. Make sure that whatever photographer you're using isn't using a digital camera or a flash. You want a picture that looks natural and excentuates your good features.
The background should be neutral, nothing distracting. The shirt you wear should be plain without a pattern or anything distracting. Your hair should be very simple---nothing big. Gently curled or straight is good. Have makeup, but not a ton. Just what you would wear every day.

There's no "right" answer to this one. The RIGHT headshot for you is the one that you're proud to distribute. The basic advice I'd give you is: look at as many headshots of other actors as you can. See which ones impress you. Get the names of those photographers and contact them. Ask to see their portfolios (this is critically important!); you want to work with a photographer whose work makes a positive impact on you, and with whom you feel a rapport. If those things are in place, you're going to like the results.
