Daddy-o was merely a word used, in the 1950s, for a friend, just like "bud", dude" etc.

1. There was a 1958 B-movie by this name

2. It featured in the dialogue of the play West Side Story, which debuted on Broadway in 1957, and was made into a movie in 1961.

3. Here's an example of that dialogue.
Gee-Tar: Where you gonna find Bernardo?
Baby John: It ain't safe to go and be in our territory.
Riff: He'll be at the dance tonight at the gym.
A-rab: Yeah, but the gym's neutral territory.
Riff: A-rab. I'm gonna make nice with him! I'm only gonna challenge him.
Ice: Great, Daddy-o!
