First of all, it is only one country in America, that seems to be hated, the USA. The world seems to be fine with all other American countries.
But maybe people keep on going there just because they decided to go to bad from worse?
Honestly, I think the people do not hate America, they just do not like the american politics after 9/11. While Al Quaida gave reasons to attack Afghanistan, the war in Iraq is cruel, the invasion based on lies, against UN decisions and it was the american president who came up with statements "either you are a partner in OUR war against terrorism (funnily there was no terrorists in Iraq before the invasion, Saddam hated Osama Bin Laden) or you are our enimy". It was the americans who bashed all nations who told them that the war is wrong and no good (think about freedom fries).
A big part of the world is p**** off by such arrogance. But also most of the world is able to make a difference between american politics and american citizens. And those citizens seem to disagree more and more with that guy, who might be the worst US president ever.
But I agree, US bashing gets more and more popular all over the world, and it seems to be good fun for newspapers, radio stations and so on to join in. You shouldn't take it as an attack against yourself, nor as an attack against your country. The US just lost the role to be a guarantee for freedom, democracy and justice, because it invaded and destroyed the Iraq. Now it is just another country, maybe having more economical and military power, but not shining any more.
It will take time to change that view of the world again and it will depend on the future US politics.
And honestly, if I was a muslim, living in the middle east, why should I not hate the US? Every media (own and a lot of foreign) tell me that the US is fighting a war against the Islam, it is greedy for your oil, is supporting and protecting your biggest enemy (Israel) and puts pressure on you (or attack you) because they think you might have / develope weapons of mass destruction, while a non islamic country with no oil fields (North Korea) gets away with it?
I am not saying that this is the truth, but it is what every newspaper, radio channel, TV station and Mullah in the middle east are telling you. Wouldn't you start to hate a country like that? And isn't exactly that the war that Mr. Bush really lost and that is causing all the trouble?

They don't hate America, they just don't like George Bush and his policies.
People who are from poor countries and repressive countries want to come here for the economic opportunities and the civil rights that Americans enjoy.
But there are many other countries in the world that are prosperous and democratic, and most people in those countries have NO desire to move to the US.
