The location of the pins should be on the label on top of the harddrive.

Actually, you won't have to worry about the location. You convert a Master drive to Slave drive by simply moving a little jumper, and the label will show which pins the jumper connects to be either M or S.

Most drives are shipped with the jumper on Master.

There is a booklet that comes with the hard drive. In the booklet it will tell you where there is a jumper and all you have to do is place the jumper in the position it says in the booklet or if no booklett look up manufacturer on net and follow the diagrams. It is very easy. take care Heather

This varies with every manfacturer and even every model. I would try searching for the model number on the internet. You're likley to find some sort of online user manual or something similar that can help you.
