Are people dumb? Saying "America isn't ready for a female president at this time" is like saying "America isn't ready to start treating blacks like people" or "America isn't ready to abolish slavery" or, more specifically, "America isn't ready to start treating _women_ like people." What a load. I'm voting for any woman who comes up to be elected. (The only party that would run a woman anyway is the Democrats; if it were up to Republicans, women would never have positions of power anywhere and would instead worry about dressing up pretty and changing diapers and baking pies.) We are one of the only countries on _earth_ (and we're supposedly so supportive of women's rights) that has never had a female president. And I think Hillary will do a much finer job than fool baby Bush has done in his 8 years of an utterly wasted presidency.

Why shouldn't there be a female president? Women are perfectly capable of making tough decisions and have been running businesses and corporations for years. There are many able women in Congress and the Senate. Women have been in power in other countries and have done a good job. Why not here, and why not now?

Many countries have female presidents who have been and are good leaders. Sex has no bearing on ability to lead a government. Unfortunately , I do not think America is ready to vote for a female for the office of president. She would have to so clearly outstripe any male contenders that not to choose her would be unthinkable. We do not have the right voting circumstances for that at this time.

I wouldn't mind having a female president. I do not think America's Society is ready for a female president though. I am sure in the future it will happen but not in the '08 election. Which is fine with me. I am not exactly a fan of Hillary.

No better or worse than a male president. It really shouldn't even be an issue, as merit should be the only thing that counts, not gender.

I don't see anything wrong with that, but I also think America's not ready for it. I also think Condi Rice would stand a better chance than Hillary.
