I'm not sure what to think. He didn't lay out a definite plan, and personally, I don't think he really knows what he's gonna do in Iraq once he gets those extra 21,000 troops in there. What do you guys think? Did you buy into the speech? What do you think he'll do once he gets those troops over there? Do you think Congress will end up allowing him to carry out his plan in the first place?

To avoid confusion let me first say I am a Liberal who usually votes Democrat. As for the speech I though it was a fairly pedestrian address which is exactly what he needed. He listed the basic outlines of a health plan knowing that the one he is proposing has been defeated before. His goal seems to be to get discussion started on a possible bill.

He gave some ideas concerning energy, environment and new military employee initiatives. Again it seemed he would like to just see discussion and movement begin with those matters. He also made a push for renewing the No Child Left Behind act and tried to sell on the idea that the economy is going gangbusters.

As for the economy and his now old reasoning for Iraq and the new plan I seriously doubt he did any good. The President (whom I do not support) was quite vague in terms of policy but I think he made wone of his better speeches politically. I agree with the pundits (from both sides) predicting a slight bump in his rating followed quiclky by a return to the downward trend. By weekend Iraq will be the consuming topic again.

He hasn't said anything new about Iraq, so I'm sure it hasn't changed anyone's mind in congress. He has made more promises about health care and school reform, but it has as much weight as one can expect of any political promises. I think congress is going to fight to end the war in Iraq as soon as possible. But Bush will fight equally as hard to keep an occupying force of some kind there.

I wasnt a big Bush fan but i give him some credit for what hes trying to do, i still dont think we should send that many of our brave men and women there, to many lives lost already. We need to think this over better and have a good plan.

That this administration is an utter and complete unethical and immoral failure. Bush's only exit strategy is January of 2009. Republicans have destroyed this country.
