Last night before setting my 9 month old to bed she ate a piece of my bread that had some mayo. an hour later she threw up she also had cough but no fever. she didnt want to drink anything but i gave her some pedialyte and she did take that(4 oz). for the rest of the night all she did was cry and cough. this morning she seems better but i think the bread is still bothering her belly? any suggestions how to relieve her tummy and sore throat/cough.

Make sure she stays hydrated, the pedialyte is good - and try some water. This will help her cough and keep her fluid level up. I read that it was more important to keep fluids in than to feed solids when they have the tummy flu (and my 21 month old just had a doozy of a case...) and as for the cough, a humidifier or steam up the bathroom should help. I also try to get my little guy to sleep on a bit of an incline when he's coughing. Hug her and comfort her, she will be fine (and try to get some rest yourself!)

I would just take her in to the Dr.
Both my kids (and subsequently myself) got Strep a couple weeks ago and that would have been my last guess of what it could have been. My 5 month old had a high fever and upset tummy, my 4 year old had no fever and vomiting, and I had a slight fever with upset tummy. Weird that NONE of us had a sore throat til days after we were on antibiotics.
SO, my point is that you never know for sure what's going on until you get it checked out :)

for the cough - a prescribed drug
for the tummy- it will work itself out of her system eventually

but check to see if it's not the mayo, especially late at night. it may not have been porperly digested (causing her to throw up) and the after effects now has her uneasy.

I would keep giving her pedialyte. Also, you may want to get some triaminic or some type of cold/cough medicine. It should be given to her by weight. I give my son triaminic congestion. He gets 1 teaspoon and he's 25 lbs. you should call your doc and ask which one
is best for your child.

She may be allergic to gluten. It is more common than we think. Check out this article on babies and gluten. http://www.parenting.com/parenting/baby/article/0,19840,648177,00.html

This experience demonstrates why it is so important for us to introduce one new food at a time -- so we know what agrees with them and what doesn't!
