I know oil os found under the ground, but in which locations is it the most plentiful? How is it extracted? I also need to know the process for converting it into petroleum.

Oil is located in nearly every continent of the globe. Petroleum is drilled by punching a pipe into the ground until a producable reservoir is found. If large enough, it will produce oil and gas using the natural pressure of the reservoir to push the oil to the surface (you may have seen the pictures of the gushers). If not, then you have to use a pump to get it out of the ground (the horsehead pumps you may have seen). Recovered oil is piped to a refinery where it is turned into gasoline, diesel, other products that are used everyday.

here is an essay about oil..... it describes the process of converting oil into petroleum, it talks about the extraction process and it tells you that oil is most plentiful in wyoming, but does not talk about outside the us.
but outside of the US i think it is in Iraq
