My sister's Ford Puma needs a new engine, and she's been trying to track one down. We've been told it's the same engine as a Fiesta, but need to know if the two are interchangeable, are the brackets the same etc.

I don't think a Fiesta engien would provide enough grunt for a Puma. Look more towards the Escourt/Focus side.

The Puma was effectively the same car as the 1996-2000 Fiesta, but wearing different clothes (a different "top hat" in Ford-speak).
Therefore all the mounts, electrical connections, etc. should be the same.

However, the 1.7-litre 125bhp engine in the top-model Puma was never used in any other car.
The 1.4 and 1.6-litre engines are the same as those in the Fiesta.

If it's then 1.4, then yes. The Puma is basically a Fiesta with a different back end to cut down on development costs.

I would imagine the mountings would be slightly different but should be able to be adapted. Personally I would get another Puma or an Escort engine, you'd have fewer problems then.

.yes it will fit, but to make mater's easy you need to match the engine codes (not engine Numbers). these are found on the alloy plate riveted to the front of slam panel . good luck
