How do I get my stuff out. I have an emailed list from her detailing what is mine and what is hers, which she sent me....Do I have any recourse. It was an apartment which I was listed as an occupant, but not on the lease. I received no notice. What do I do? She has changed the locks..

Contact the Sheriff or Police Department for the area. Do NOT do this without a police escort. They will escort you to get your things. She will have to be there though.

Bill is right. The sheriff will escort you. Do not make any attempt to break in or get keys and sneak in. This could be trespassing at this point, not sure due to the lease/occupant/etc...

Send her one last email, offering to come and get your stuff, while she is there, and let her know that if she doesn't agree, you will ask the sheriff to escort you to do it anyway. I doubt she wants the cops in her house for any reason, but that's all you can legally do at this point.

unfortunately for you because you are listed as an occupant and not a lease holder, there isn't much.
But, to be on the safe side, you need to contact the landlord to determine what your rights are as an occupant.

worst case, call the sherriff and have them escort you to the place and help you get your items back.

remember, what goes around comes around. keep your head and do everything by the book. she'll get hers in the end :)

Thats the point were you consult the local police. She has no right to take what is yours. They will escort you to the apartment.
Its law, she can't say no.
But make sure what you are taking IS yours.

Also, can I suggest keeping a notebook on things that she does to you if it gets way out of hand with the break up? Its good for the possible future court date.

Find out when she is going to be home and then call the Police to stand by and keep the peace while you move your stuff out. Don't confront her and don't agitate the problem, just call the police, tell them you are moving out of an ex-girlfriends apartment and that you need them to stand by and keep the peace while you move your stuff out. Then get in there, move the stuff out and get out of there. The police won't stand by real long, some make sure you do what you need to do quickly.

Knock on the door and say, "Candygram." She's probably dumb enough to answer. After all, she did think she could cheat without getting caught.

When she opens the door - oh wait, I forgot, you'll need a land shark standing next to you - when she opens the door, the land shark will eat her and you'll have access to the house.

Well, it always worked for Chevy Chase when we wanted Lorraine Newman to open the door on SNL.

I had the same problem, and in PA at least, until you're married, your things are hers, and hers are yours. once you leave, you lose. I was out of town, and she moved out, taking everything, and I couldn't do a thing about it, other than the car that was hers, bought by her mom, and put in my name, she couldn't touch it. The police won't do anything because it's civil, not criminal. Good luck.
