Look at the label inside - there'll be a basin shape and a number such as 30, 40 or 60, This is the temperature to set the machine at. Anything with a P symbol or a crossed out basin is dry clean only - don't ever try to wash it!

Wash light colours seperately from dark and sort out woolens to wash on a cool, wool wash.

easy really!

Wash whites seperately just to be safe. With todays detergents you can probably get good results with a 40 degree wash. The only time you have to be careful is with what you put in a tumble dryer, check the label for that.

well best way is keep all your dark coloured clothes separate from your white clothes, for example . all white, towels ,bed linen, etc, most can be washed at 60c-90c but best check the label´s on the clothes before washing. then most of the dark coloured clothes , example, jeans t.shirts can go in at 30c-40c again look at the label´s just keep checking the labels and you should be fine. you´ll soon get the hang of it .

I have a laundry basket which has 3 compartments;

whites/pale colours
colours
darks

I also wash my towels and bed-linen seperately and now I tend to wash my new-born baby clothes sep as well.

so all in all one load a day for a family of 4.

Light, bright, dark and white, should do it. Don't wash things too hot, and don't wash anything that needs to be dry cleaned. Read the lable.

With current fabrics it really doesn't matter any more. if you have a fabric that will bleed, such as on a napkin wash it seperately, if not just about anything goes. also, you can wqash just about anything in cold water, and you don't need special detergint.

I do darks, lights, whites, and toddler clothes. I don't like to use harsh detergents or fabric softeners on my daughter's clothes so I always wash them separately.

Sort them into whites, dark colours, and light colours, and delicates. Will that is what you are supposed to do. But I just do mine in whites and colours! Don't have enough clothes to sort them further!!
