I'm 16 and I'm a junior in high school. i was invisible. i couldnt ever imagine me talking to the Gucci Hotties (thats how i call the popular girls cuz they r so pretty and they think they r all that). ok and i also never really care about being popular, i just wanted to have some fun. ok so one day (1 month ago) i was with my cousin who is my best friend, and we started to see how would we look if we put on sum make up and brush our hair. so we did it.

then when i saw me on mirror i tough i was just lookin "stupid" like those gucci hotties, so my cousin challenged me to go to school lookin like it for 1 week, so when i went to school everybody just noticed me and popular girls invited me to sit with them. now boys seem desperate to talk to me, even the cool guys.

i mean, it was only a bit of make up and a hair change, i liked what happened, but i still dont understand why i became popular after it. is appearance all that matters?

we are a visual society. you changed something and somebody noticed. I don't know that you suddenly became popular. You are still you. As a test, go back to the old you and see what happens? Do they all still treat you the same? If they don't they are superficial and not worth your time.

You are in high school. And people like the gucci hotties as you call them suddenly notice you is lame. You didn't just magically appear there. You are still the same you that you were last week just a bit more polished. I am sure you are nice looking either way. Sometimes a little thing like make-up boosts your confidence and makes you stand up straighter and feel better about yourself. And that radiates from you.

I hate to say it honey but it is high school and at that age, yes. If this is what you like now that it has happened to you remember to stay focused on who you are not what you look like. Also, always think about how those same people treated you before they "noticed " you, is there a big difference? People like that are superficial and they are the ones that end up being a college dropout because they are either somebody's mama or somebody's baby daddy. In the future it won't matter who was popular and who wasn't once the real world sets in.

people always take notice to change. and sometimes...sad to say....one some people a little bit of make up goes a long way. and yes to some people appearance matters that much.

Maybe you got so much attention because you felt good about yourself and had more confidence which makes you more approachable and more outgoing. The way we feel about ourselves can certainly effect the way we interact with others. I bet the result has more to do with your personality than with the makeup.

People are shallow, it sucks, but it's the truth! But just remember, that if you don't look like that, you go back to being "invisible" so are these people really worth hanging out with???

As my grandfather once said "a little paint never hurt anything, from a barn door to a girl."
