Its usually 14 days from the first day of your period right? Is the first day of your period when you actually bleed or when its just that brown discharge?

Ovulation dates vary widely from woman to woman and from month to month. Many women need to use one or more methods to pinpoint their ovulation day, such as checking for several days of stringy cervical mucus, charting basal body temperature changes, and checking luteinizing hormone changes.

Some women feel a brief period of sharp pain on one side of the lower abdomen (the side where the egg was released) when they ovulate. This pain is called mittelschmerz. An increase in vaginal discharge or slight spotting may also occur near the time of ovulation.

No its 14 days BEFORE your next period. Therefore the way to work it out is by taking 14 away from the number of days your regular cycle is long. EG, if your cycle is 30 days long, take 14 from it you get 16 - 16 is about the day you ovulate. Womens cycles vary in length but if you see them as being of two parts - it makes more sense why. Day 1 is from when you begin bleeding (1st day of your period) to ovulation. This part of the cycle varies in length between each woman. The second part is from ovulation to when your period comes on again. Once you work out when you ovulate & can detect changes in your body around then (ie changes in cervical mucus) you will then notice your period comes on about 14 days later. The first day of your period really is as soon as its heavy enough to need a towel, so unless you were preg the discharge is your period beginning.

Ovulation dates need to be determined by charting your fertility cycles. With charting you can determine when you are most apt to ovulate (which is always counted from the end of the length of your shortest cycle). The part is called the luteal phase and it is the most consistent part of your cycle.

For charting purposes, yes you start with the first day of your menses, which is any bleeding, the brown discharge is just old dryer stuff, it is still part of the lining being released.

With charting you will learn to recognize all the signs of fertility. You monitor your resting temperature every morning to determine when you have ovulated. You also monitor your cervical fluids (for 'egg-white' mucus) and your cervical position (to be high, open and soft), These last two tell you when you are most apt to ovulate.

No it's 14 days before your next period starts. For people with a 28 day cycle this would be on Day 14, for 30 day cycle Day 16 and so on.

The first day of your period is the first day that you start to bleed.

yes ovulation usually starts between the 12 16 day....and you count it from the 1st day of your period.....the brown stuff as u call it is still ur period.....good luck!
Also you can tell when u are ovulating cos the discharge gets thicker and more mucus 'snotty' like....thats if you get discharge during the month.
