where do people go and what do they do to audition in a movie?

i only know one person who played a small role as a waiter and he lives in texas, not anywhere near me.
is it possible to audition for a movie in you dont really know anyone in showbiz?
i really wanna audition, but HOW?

First and foremost you have to have an agent. Get yourself a ( headshot ). Contact sheet. This is a series of pictures a photographer will provide to you so you can choose the one you like best. Then you order about 25 - 50 of them and give half of them to your agent if not all, your choice. If you haven't got a resume then you don't need to forward one. If you do have one give it to an agent. make 25 - 50 copies of these too and give to your agent. These are important because your agent sends your headshot and resume to potential casting agents, they're the one's you have to impress so be ready to do ( anything ) they ask when you audition. I.e. act foolish, angry, sad, etc. There's no room for shyness in this biz. Don't think about it just do it. Do a little extra work on the side while you wait for auditions. Extra work does not require experience, or headshots or resumes. But you have to have an agent for this too. An extra will charge you a one time small fee. You can't have the same agent for principle work & extra work as they have no affiliation. Good luck.
