Alright I am now in the process of planning a wedding which will be in 7 months. I want to get on some kind of birth control until a month before the wedding. I was thinking about trying that Ortho Tri Cyclin lo birth control pill, because this is only going to be a temporary thing. I already have my dress picked out and don't want to get pregnant or even open myself up to the chance of getting pregnant right now. Is this a good type of temporary birth control?? We will also be using condoms but he doesn't wear them for the entire time he usually puts it on right before he is about to go. and i know you can get pregnant off of precum so I don't want to take any chances here. Anyone taken this type of birth control and if so how long did it take you to get pregnant once you were off of the pill?? If you don't think this is a good type of birth control can you suggest another kind that is good to use for a short time. thanks so much

I have been on many different kinds of BCP including Ortho TriCyclen and I would definitely recommend it for short term birth control. You do need to be aware of possible side effects, though. I did gain some weight and have headaches, but my mentrual cramps were much better while I was on them! Check out the website: http://www.orthotricyclen.com/ There are other forms of temporary birth control that might be just as effective such as a "minipill" like OTC Lo or a patch like Ortho Evra. If you use a pill, the triphasic ones are great. As far as getting pregnant once you go off the pill, everyone is different, but I conceived my oldest daughter the first month I was off birth control! Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

I would choose another brand of pills, like Ortho Cyclin. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclin ( the regular kind) for two months after switching from Ortho Cyclin; the cramps were worse, I broke out more, I was really moody, and my period came WAY early. Those are one reason I chose to get off of the pill. But any pill is good if you don't want to become pregnant.

Try Yasmin I really liked it. Ive also tried Ortho Tri Cyclin. I didn't care for it I gained almost fifteen pounds and a pants size and a half. I couldn't drop it until I switched. Yasmin also helps to clear your skin of blemishes. Its just like any other pill you can go back to being able to have babies as soon as you stop taking it. Don't do depo I gained a lot of pounds with that to.
p.s. use a condom from the beginning to end of sex you can get pregnant from precum It doesn't do any good if you use it just at the end.

I was on Ortho Tri Cyclin (actually to control cramps, not as birth control) before my wedding (not the low though the reg). One thing I thought was a great benefit was that I was scheduled to be on my period for the honeymoon--AHHHHH! All I did was skip the placebo pills and start a new pack and voila!, no period on my honeymoon. After we were married we switched to natural family planning and waited 3 years before trying to get pregnant and it took 3 cycles.

Condoms and vaginal contrectptive foam are a good choice for short term but not 100% exspecially if the condoms are only being used to catch the ejaculant. I would hate to suggest a pill to you, when you go to your OB to get your perscription make them aware of the short amount of time you wish to use itand that you hope to come off it and work towards pregnancy within the year they will be able to offer you the best solution for your personal body chemistry.

Sure it is good. You can take it for a few months or even just one. It should not effect you getting pregnant afterwards especially since you are only on it for a short time. Good Luck and Congratulations!!

The DEPO shot is good, however, it can take a while for you to concieve after you stop taking it. Again there is nothing 100%. You can also look at your calender and not have sex for the week you should be ovulating.

Dear there is no point in even putting on the condom if you don't put it on before penetration.....
the Pill will work fine - talk to your doctor.
on a side note - there really is no such thing as safe sex - the only birth control that works is abstinence.
