Have 2 comps on workgroup working fine. Want to add another. Turned off firewall, added to workgroup, but when view network it only shows me one (the one I'm trying to add) computer. My other computers are working okay on the network. The only difference I can see is that the wireless connection is not strong.

First, log into your router from any of the computers and check the DHCP table to see what clients are connected.

Assuming that at least two are, get the IP addresses of both and try pinging them.

Is it possible that somehow your other computers are on a different subnet?

Is the new PC you have added getting an ip address assigned from your router/access point?

From Start | Accessories, open the 'Command Prompt'. At the resulting prompt, enter 'ipconfig', and press enter key.
You should see a list of the network adaptors on the system, and underneath each entry the current IP address, subnet mask and default gateway.

Do the same on one of the machines that is working correctly. Compare the results of the two machines...

For the machines to 'see' each other, the subnet mask and default gateway should be the same, and the first three segments (from the left) of the IP address should match that of the other machines. In other words, the IP might be 192.168.1.100 on one and 192.168.1.101 on the other.

If this is not the case, than the new machine is not being assigned an ip address by the router access point or it is being assigned to a different subnet - which can happen if you inadvertantly have two devices running as a DHCP server - i.e. - if you have a wired router and then your wireless access point both configured to be the DHCP server on the network. For you size LAN, you should only have one such server. Turn that feature off on whichever device was added last.

If you are connecting all these things via the same router/access point, then the signal strength could be an issue. See what you can do to strengthen the signal reception on the new pc...

Hope that give a few ideas...

If your wireless connection is strong enough to make the connection ,then you must be able to ping the other computer
check your connection setting to ensure you typed the correct IPs and/or subnet mask

have you ever enabled document sharing on the pcs ?? Open not person-friendly force houses, then document SHARING If the information are deepest, you may't get appropriate of entry to them remotely. examine each and each computing gadget has a human being IP adress too, and the router IP is nice.
