making a band?

can anyone tell me how you get about making a band?

have you got a myspace? get yourself on that and post comments on other people's message boards that you think might be into the same music. Add relevant friends that are into similar music and then send a bulletin out asking other musicians to spread the word. Myspace is full of musicians! You can also place an ad in the likes of NME. Go along to venues that often have a lot of bands playing or check out acoustic sessions. It's more than likely there will be a 'promoter' running these nights, who probably knows what is going on with all the bands in your area and who might be looking to start new bands. Rehearsal rooms will also have somewhere you can place an ad, and again it is probably worth asking the folk who run these places if they know of any available musicians.

Decide what sort of music you want to play, then look at the make up of the band ie 3piece, 4piece etc. to find players you need to network. advertise if you can afford it. Remember putting the band together is the easy bit. Getting guys and gals that are focused and driven is more difficult.

Start by placing adds at local rehearsal studios and music stores you can also advertise in the local paper or circular word of mouth will also go a long way ask other people who you know can play and you have your start.

if your friends don't play any instrument, then look in college or your high school, there are always cool guitarists out there, announce yourself in the papers and tell your friends to spare your need, there are always desperate guys for play, so don't worry
