There are some things which happen to us that really mark us.
I remember some things so vividly, I can smell the food cooking over the grill, remember the cold as the ice and snow pelted down on me, and feel the ache and pain of that time. Anyone else?

people with think this strange, my sis always did, but the smells of the race track are what i can never forget. racing gas, gear lube, they take me to a time i love and make me feel as if i am right there. the sounds too, jacks being pulled across the dirt in a last ditch effort to change the gear or tire in time for the feature. the sound of motors gunning and the screech the tires make during a push start. they affect my whole person to the point where i could swear i am there again. god what a great memory.

I can distinctly recall being about 7, at the beach, dozing, and listening to the ocean muffled as my ear was on the sheet on the sand. The salt on my skin and the sun's warmth. The wind blowing lightly and the sound of seagulls and my family chatting. Afterwards we walked to a hotel and rinsed off near the aqua coloured pool with a slide. Then the family went to Red Lobster and I still remember ordering shrimp and hush puppies. The memory of this day will forever be ingrained. It is not as though anything spectacular happened..just it was the only time I can clearly remember all was alright in my world. From that day I still favor the colour aqua because of the pool.
Also the birth of my children was a sensory banquet..the sounds, the sights, the touch.. are vividly imprinted in my mind and I can always recall it like it was yesterday.

Some things make me remember things...sometimes I wish I couldn't remember them. Everyone has their own particular smell and I sometimes get that smell stuck in my nose and it won't go away...but the bad thing is that I think of that one person which in return makes my heart crumble:( but then sometimes it warms the heart! (You probably understand that feeling).

At the first elementary school I went to had a smell to it and when I eat lunch with my baby brothers I sometimes smell it and remember what it was like always having to eat at the detention table, lol.

My highschool years were unforgettable, mainly due to the smell of alcohol nowadays. I smell rum or smirnoff and it takes me back to my senior year that I moved out of my parents house because I thought I was all grown up.

The general smell of smoke and alcohol makes me remember the toadies concert...I love that memory!

I could go on and on.......

I can still remember the smell and feel of my Kindergarten teachers sweater, from my first day of school. When I feel another texture that resembles it, it brings back the memory like it just happened.

Also the smell of bread baking reminds me of when my parents were still together. My mom used to always cook bread when I was a child.

Then of course there will always be giving birth. Everytime I go to the Gynecologist now, it's like I'm reliving the whole experience.

:o)
