my favorite is in the shampoo commercials, where the "chemists" are all gorgeous women, with smart hair, sexy glasses, and plunging necklines in their lab coats... always looking intently at some colored liquid...
in real life, all the chemists i have met have been interesting men, all ages, smart, with a lot to say, though maybe a little socially awkward. but that might just be the outspoken ones. there could be thousands of hunky, adorable chemists out there that i don't know about.

My perception is that they are super smart, wear white lab coats, and use test tubes. Actually I know a chemist and I have never seen him at work, but when I have been around him he was not wearing a white lab coat so I guess I am stereotyping.
I will ask him if he wears a white lab coat at work.

Chemists are true researchers making breakthroughs in fields like medicine and energy.
The chemists I have known were geniuses, but were lacking in other areas. Such as the ability (or will) to stick to a given life pathway beyond their attention span.

I've known some. I generally don't think much about them. Its just kind of a job that doesn't bring up much thinking about it. I guess my image of them - if I really think about it - is a lab in a company and rows of chemists at work spaces, occasionally returning to their office to get their mail.

I lump them into the category of "the scientists"
You know, the scientists will figure it out, the scientist will invent something, the scientists on working on something that etc etc.
Its not a group of people i think about, sorry.

my uncle is a chemistry professor, has written textbooks on the subject, and is one of the most intelligent men i know
