It's the same old Mickey Mouse politics that Congress is famous for. Congress doesn't hesitate to give itself a pay raise that it doe snot deserve, but they will not give the working poor a break. This is elitism at its worst.

The first 100 hours wasn't just about minimum wage as you would want people to believe. Still more was done in this 100 hour period than the previous Congress was able to do in four years.

First hundred was given a lot of Hoopla, but look at what did pass.....
Student Loan Bill -It was headlined as reducing the interest on federally subsidized student loans from the present 6.8 percent to 3.4 percent. Actually, it reaches the 3.4 percent level on July 1, 2011. A student taking out a loan July 1 this year would pay 6.12 percent after graduation. Only 29 percent of all students getting loans would be eligible for this gradual cut. Other student loan programs will be cut to help pay for the $7 billion cost over five years. And, contrary to Democratic implications, the bill does nothing to slow the rise of college tuition.
So they cut $6 billion from other federally subsidized student loan programs on top of a net $12 billion cut by the last Republican-controlled Congress. Thanks guys!!
Ethics Reform...which allows non-profit lobbying organizations to fund travel excursions for members of Congress.I thought Pelosi said there would be a ban on all gifts and travel paid for by lobbyists ...And what about those ear marks..Why are they fighting an amendment by Sen. Judd Gregg, New Hampshire Republican, that would authorize the president to remove earmarks (provisions in a bill to fund specific pet projects of members of Congress in their home districts or states)Republicans wanted to vote on their amendment as part of the ethics bill, but Sen. Robert C. Byrd, West Virginia Democrat, had been single-handedly blocking the deal...When Republicans didn't get the amendment vote they wanted, they retaliated by voting against a parliamentary procedure needed to pass the overall ethics bill, effectively blocking Harry Reid's first order of business... Too Bad huh... Bush talked about this last night.
As far as the minimum wage increase, this proposal has been rejected 11 times since 1998..
