I think that in the beginning he is a bit judgemental of the Bennet family because they are obviously not as wealthy as him and Charles. I do see how he could try to shy Charles away from Jane because Jane was so shy that Darcy's perception was one of being uninterested. I think that as he sees more of Lizzie, he begins to like her, especially because she isn't afraid of him like many people. Lizzie says that she fell in love with him when she saw the grounds at Pemberly, but I think it was when she found out he forced Wickham to marry Lydia thus saving her family's name. It's obvious in many parts that Lizzie and Darcy really like each other. It's that classic, down-talk the person you really long for. :o) This is such a great story...I love Jane Austen!

I don't think his character Changes. Lizzy does have a bit of pride and her pride is hurt when he says "she's tolerable but not hansom enough to tempt me." She completly ignores the good in his character and only sees the negative and is quick to believe the worst of him. It is only when she sees him as himself, when is at home does she the real man he is.
Darcy on the other hand is not so much proud as he is prejusdice. He looks down on Elizabeth's family because they are not as weathy. I think he still holds the mother and sisiter in low esteem but he is will to forgive that. I don't think he changes.

OH! I love this book/movie
I don't think that Darcy's character changes. I think that rather he learns to open himself up and become vulnerable to others. Lizzy sees him at the beginning as very arrogant (due to his enormous wealth). She would laugh at him behind his back because of it. Later on though, as she starts to see him more, to talk to him, to learn about his real self, she realizes that he is just misunderstood. She says that he is one of the greatest men she has ever met. He cares so much about his family and his friends, and is so giving towards people in his own way (like with him paying off Wickim's debts and searching all of London for Lydia).
Best movie ever. Message me if you have any more questions :)

that depends on whom you think the "pride" is referring to, and whom yout think the "prejudice" is referring to. personally, i believe Lizzy was the one with the pride, and Darcy the one with the prejudice. Darcy was prejuduce against Elizabeth because she was of a lower class, and Elizabth knew this, and had too much pride to let herself like him if he looked down at her. i guess at the end, Darcy realizes that his foolish prejudice may have cost him the love of his life, and Elizabeth realises that he no longer sees her as low class, and she may be giving up HER love just for her pride. at least, that's how my English teacher (and me) interpeted it.

Darcy=pride
Elizabeth=prejudice
They both realize their perceptions were wrong. He stops looking down his nose at her family and she realizes her negative impressions of him were wrong.
