The reason...YET AGAIN...people in America mixed w/ black and white are called black is due to our slave history where a mulatto would not be allowed in white society and more than likey was a SLAVE and taken care of by the black side and had NO CONTACT with the white except as a servant!!!!
It was like that basically until the 70's. If a mulatto want to claim white only go right on ahead. BUT historically, its been easier to live black than white when you're gray.
Whats wiht the yellow and blue. Yellow mean Asian right? Blue is the Smurfs? Um, they aren't people.

are you talking about people here? you start out talking about racism, which does exist sorry to say, then you go into what is a child born into a black and white family. And then into the color wheel of life....
whats up? son of black and white is a mixed child, yellow and blue do make green.. which totally changes it from yellow.

I guess you are trying to figure out why someone that is mixed (with white and black) is usually seen as being Black.
Part of the reason roots back to the time of slavery. it was common place that white slaver owners raped some of their slaves. Some of these slaves gave birth to children.
Since the laws at this time didn't give Black any rights, the question was raised what do you do with some that was both Black and White. do you give him all their rights, just half or none.
They picked none since it made sure they could keep more slaves.
modern times the reason is simply quick labeling. People see someone that looks Black they label them as being Black.

i think the son would rather be called mixed,
or black,or white,
but not grey for sure.

Yeah, but wouldn't it be dumb to call them "gray", which is what black and white make when mixed together? I think "mixed-race" is more acceptable.
